The holdings of this specialist library comprise some 15,000 works, primarily authoritative academic and scholarly works on the archaeology of pre- and early history and the Roman provinces, mediaeval and classical archaeology. The main focus is on German language publications relating to major archaeological findings, leading European periodicals, especially from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, and exhibition catalogues. The library supports the museum’s work of researching, presenting and conveying the archaeology of the Rhine-Main region and the cultures of Ancient Europe.
